PROPOSED WOODSTOVE REGULATIONS PAGE

NOTICE: MISSOULA COUNTY WOODSTOVE USERS

The Missoula City-County Heath Department is proposing sweeping changes to woodstove regulations that will fundamentally change the way woodstoves are used in Missoula County.
Some of these proposed changes include:

Permits required for solid fuel burning devices

A person may not install or use a new solid fuel burning device in a structure within Missoula County without an installation permit

County inspection and documentation of the installation must be provided

Establishment of a "burning season" for woodstoves which includes a no-visible emission (or no-burn) on Alert days provision

New fireplaces could not be installed in Missoula County

Please take a look at the proposed ordinances and take the time to express your opinion to the Missoula City-County Health Department.

The proposed regulation changes were first aired publicly Thursday April 9th.
